One More Phase of 'RSP' Medal Award to Commandos and Infantry War Heroes Glitters BMICH


Award of  ‘Rana Sura Padakkama’ (RSP) Medals  to another batch of 666 Sri Lanka Commando Regiment (CR) and Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment War Heroes, including the next of kin of 3 Officers and 94 Non-Commissioned Officers ( NCOs) who made the supreme sacrifice while in action during Humanitarian Operations, took place at the BMICH on Wednesday (4).
                                                                                             
Major General P Prasanna Silva, Colonel of Regiment, Commando Regiment and Commandant, ARTRAC at Diyatalawa as the Chief Guest, graced the event that honoured and felicitated those fallen, 2 Officers and 46  NCOs  who became disable during fierce battles (2006-2009) as well as 76 more Officers and 445 NCOs who sweated fearlessly fighting against terrorism by awarding them with the prestigious gallantry medal, RSP in the midst of a large gathering of senior officers.
 
Next of kin of Fallen Commando War Heroes were given a rousing reception as their names were called to do the honours. The occasion, coloured by heart-rending songs and melodies of the doyen of Sinhala music, Pandith W. D Amaradeva, added special significance as patriotic sentiment rent the air.
