One More Patriotic War Hero Receives New House

Patriotic services of one more War Hero who shouldered the burden of defending the country in military operations, Jayasikuru, Riviresa, etc, at the risk of his own legs and limbs, were once again lauded and appreciated by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), awarding him a new house at Gampaha.

Come 4th April morning when Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB, accompanied by several senior SVAB officials attended the ceremony that symbolically awarded the house to disable War Hero, Corporal R.M. Sunil Shantha, amidst religious rites and rituals.

The new house, built with labour provided by Sri Lanka Light Infantry soldiers,   cost the SVAB a sum of Rs. 1 million, in addition to the estimated labour cost, similar to that sum. This ongoing SVAB project offers houses to War Heroes who own a piece of land, but lacks resources to construct on their own.

As Seth Pirith of the Maha Sangha was on, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya opened a special plaque near the entrance to the house and handed over the keys to the recipient who sacrificed for the sake of our future.

The SVAB under this project, has by now completed the construction of five such houses and is in the process of constructing a few more houses of this nature.

Parents, next of kin of the War Hero, Army officers, SVAB members and a large gathering of well-wishers attended the event.
