One More Garment Manufacturer Offers Jobs to Mannar Youngsters

NOW, it is one more leading garment manufacturer from the South followed suit and wanted to offer employment to Tamil youngsters in Mannar.  

Brandix (Pvt) Ltd, a reputed garment manufacturer during a brief ceremony on 1st July 2010 recruited a total of 28 Tamil girls and boys to their garment factories for a gross monthly salary of Rs 15,000/= with meals plus boarding, transport, medical and other facilities. A similar move was launched in Jaffna recently on the instructions of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya. 300 Jaffna youngsters were offered employment by another company in the same industry.   

Most of the recruits were picked from newly resettled families and interviews with the employer were conducted at National Youth Council premises in Mannar earlier on the same day.

On the instructions of the Commander of the Army, the Security Forces Commander Wanni, Major General G.D.H.K Gunaratne has directed Area Commander for Mannar Brigadier M.A.M Dias and 215 Brigade Commander Colonel H.L.V.M Liyanage to organize the event. The Army took the initiative and found employment for the jobless in the private sector. 

Most of the recruits were girls and they were to leave for Katunayake Brandix factory shortly to begin their new livelihoods. 

Parents and guardians of those young girls thanked the Army for its initiative and requested to find more similar openings for others in the area.

Brandix Human Resources Manager Mr Sandun Benaragama, Director National Youth Council Mr N.M Munaff, Civil Coordinating Officer, Lieutenant Colonel N Mahavithana, several leading officials and civilians in the area took part in the event.
