One More Batch of Army Personnel Receives Vocational Training

One more set of Army personnel, lined up for retirement from the Army within a short period received vocational training certificates after receipt of training in different vocational spheres at the Non Commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS) at Saliyawewa during a ceremony, held on Tuesday (10), headed by Major General K.J Alwis, Commander, Army Training and Command (ARTRAC).    

The Non Commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS), in cooperation with the Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority in Tangalle and Anuradhapura, launched the vocational training programme for 40 Army personnel in radio and television repairs, carpentry, domestic-wiring, welding, plumbing and aluminum technology and a separate training course for underwater welding for another batch of 59 Army personnel of the NCOTS. 

All those 99 trainees received vocational certificates (National Vocational Qualification) from the visiting Major General Jagath Alwis and other guests who present at the occasion.        

Colonel M.R.K.W.B Pinnawala, Commandant, NCOTS, Colonel R.W Ponnamperuma, Colonel General Staff (Training), ARTRAC, Lieutenant Colonel D.R.N Hettiarachchi, Commanding Officer (CO), NCOTS, Mr W.J Wijerathne, Deputy Director at Vocational Training Authority (VTA), Anuradhapura and Mr D.K.D.C Kumara, Assistant Director, VTA, Anuradhapura took part in the awarding ceremony as distinguished guests. 

Major General Alwis during his stay at the NCOTS inspected the school, its resources and equipment before he had a discussion with the Commandant on the requirements.
