Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) took another initiative for a humanitarian project for the benefit of Jaffna people, and put up a new house for Mr Ariyavadan Kadhaviyanpullai and his family members in Periyavilan, Jaffna, following a decision taken by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J).
14 Gemunu Watch troops under the 513 Brigade undertook the responsibility of the construction work of the new house with the financial sponsorship, lent by Mr Kanchana Marasinghe who is also a brother of Colonel Chandana Marashinghe who lives in Australia.
The humanitarian project was organized to transfer merits on the donor’s father who passed away three years ago. The new home was vested with the family during the brief ceremony, giving pride of place to religious ceremonies. The keys of the house were delivered to the family by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-J.
Major General Mervyn Perera, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Brigadier Chandana Ranaweera, Brigade Commander, 513 Brigade, Senior Military Officers and Civilians in the village were present in the house-warming ceremony.
