Old Hits of ‘Mohammed Rafi’ Resonate in Kilinochchi

The scintillating voice of the legendary music maestro, late Mohammed Rafi resonated across a massive gathering of about 4000 Kilinochchi music lovers when his songs came alive with the identical voice of India-based Kumar Subramanian, Chairman, Mohammed Rafi Foundation, who was in Sri Lanka at the invitation of his Sri Lankan fans and Mrs Amali Weerakkody, Directress, Gyaansthalee Language Centre.

Troops of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) actively contributed to the conduct of the mega Indian musical entertainment at Kilinochchi Central College ground on Sunday (16) evening with the blessings of Major General Ralph Nugera, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi.

Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division took the initiative in this regard and organized the mammoth show as one more civil-military cooperation project in the Kilinochchi region. Representing Sri Lankan fans of Mohammed Rafi, Mr Dev Shyaman and Mr Hemal Wahalathanthri also contributed by singing popular hits of bygone era with special focus on 1960s - 1970s.

Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division attended the musical evening as the Chief Guest, together with Major General Wasantha Kumarapperuma, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division, Mrs Amali Weerakkody, Directress at Gyaansthalee Language Centre, Mrs Varuni Nanayakkara, TV/Radio Presenter / Hindi Teacher, Senior Officers and Other Ranks.
