Northern Troops Provided with Comfortable Buses for Travel

In another gesture of welfare, troops serving the North would enjoy their own luxury bus services while proceeding home on rest and recreation, following initiatives taken by the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) and the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J).

Accordingly, Kilinochchi-based All Ranks proceeding on leave are able to get off at Paranthan, Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Wariyapola, Kurunegala, en route to Colombo and back to the North on a daily basis.

Operation of both those luxury buses with facilities for Wi-Fi and film screening would help All Ranks a great deal since there was no such facility available to the Army personnel earlier. The novel project, launched on a proposal of the Commander of the Army would largely ease the congestion the troops have to face in finding a seat for their movements back and forth.

During a simple ceremony on Saturday (27) attended by Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, the inaugural service was launched from Paranthan.

Similarly, a super luxury bus service for Army troops between Colombo and Jaffna was also inaugurated recently on the directions of Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J).

This welfare measure was initiated in collaboration with a private bus company with the objective of providing a comfortable journey for Army personnel proceeding on leave.

The bus runs to all major camps in the Jaffna district and pick Army personnel going on leave and drop them back in the same locations after the return journey from Colombo. Each passenger is provided with a snack and a cup of tea.
