Newly-promoted Major General Chula Abeynayake Welcomed by His Mother Regiment

The recently-promoted Major General Chula Abeynayake, the new General Officer Commanding, 14 Division was greeted and honoured in a customary military ceremony when he recently arrived at his mother regiment, Gemunu Watch (GW) Regimental Headquarters at Kuruwita.

GW Centre Commandant, Brigadier K Prematillake welcomed the day's Chief Gust on arrival and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the entrance and receive the salute of the military parade, held in his honour. Afterwards, the memory of fallen GW War Heroes was recalled after placing a floral wreath at the GW monument as has been the tradition.

After all Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude symbolically to the Senior Officer for his commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch, he was then invited to the Officers’ Mess for refreshments before Major General Aruna Jayasekera, Colonel of the Regiment, GW presented a symbolic memento in appreciation of his promotion and service to the GW and the organization at large.

Major General Chula Abeynayake joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 31 October 1985 to the Officer Cadet Intake 22. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 31 October 1985 and posted to 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch. He has held many command appointments such as Platoon Commander, Company Commander and Second in Command. He commanded 6 and 8 Battalions of the Gemunu Watch during critical stages and rendered an excellent service.Buy Kicks | Nike Air Max
