The newly-promoted Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya, General Officer Commanding 56 Division was accorded a military salute on Saturday (8) in accordance with military traditions at the 56 Division Headquarters in Vavuniya.
21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 56 Division presented a salute in a parade after he was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance.
As the final part of the day's programme, the new Major General shared refreshments with all Ranks and sat for a group photograph with 561, 563 Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers under command to the 56 Division and Staff Officers as a symbol of memory.
