542 Brigade of 54 Division, with the intention of promoting mutual understanding and inter-relationship among all communities, conducted a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival at Madu road Sinhala School Ground on Sunday (21).
The festivities were filled with many traditional Sinhala and Tamil Games and activities which brought much enjoyment to villages. The event was coloured by a mega musical show which included many artistic items.
Mr J.A Sarathchandra, District Secretary- Mannar, graced the occasion as chief guest accompanied by additional secretary Mrs A De Mel, government officers, senior officers, large number of villagers representing all communities were present at the occasion.
