New Wanni Commander Gets Blessings

Major General J. R Kulathunge, the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W) on Thursday (17) paid courtesy calls on leading Buddhist prelates in the sacred city of Anuradhapura with the intention of paying his obeisance to them.

During his stay in Anuradhapura, the Wanni Commander offered Atapirikara to the Most Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasabhidana Nayaka Thero, incumbent for eight sacred places of worship (Atamasthanadhipathi) after visiting his monastery near the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya. The monk invoked blessings on his new appointment and wished him good luck with his proposed work in the area of responsibility.

Later, Major General Kulathunge visited Mirisawetiya, Lankaramaya, Jethawanaramaya, Ruwanweliseya, Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Viharaya in Anuradhapura and met respective chief incumbents in those temples and received blessings during interactions.

On his way, the new Wanni Commander inspected the ongoing construction work of the Sandahiru Seya in Anuradhapura and placed a brick symbolizing his contribution to the project.

General Officer Commanding, 2l Division, Senior Officers and Officers were associated with his visit to the sacred city.
