New SLNG Colonel of the Regiment Assumes Office

Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guards (SLNG) assumed office as the 14th Colonel of the Regiment Wednesday (13) morning during a simple military ceremony, held at the SLNG Regimental Headquarters in Heraliyawala, Kurunegala.

A Guard Turnout saluted the new Colonel of the Regiment Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru in accordance with military formalities after he was welcomed by the SLNG Centre Commandant, Brigadier D.H.M.W.B Thammita.

Afterwards, he paid a floral tribute to the SLNG War Heroes’ monument in memory of fallen SLNG War Heroes and recalled memories.

Later on, a Guard of Honour saluted the new Colonel of the Regiment in the parade ground and a few minutes later he was invited to plant a ‘Naa’ sapling in the SLNG premises as a token of memory of his visit to the place.

The new SLNG Colonel of the Regiment participated in an all ranks tea table at the Sergeants’ Mess.

Colonel Nalin Bandaranayake, Deputy Centre Commandant, SLNG, Members of the Regimental Council, Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks took part in the event.

Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru is also the Commander, Security Forces – Mullaittuve (SF-MLT) in addition to this new appointment.

Meanwhile, Major General Piyal Wickramarathna relinquished the appointment of SLNG Colonel of the Regiment on Saturday (9) during a simple ceremony.

A Guard Turnout, a Guard of Honour, a troop address, followed by an All Ranks refreshments and fallen wreath laying ceremony coloured the day’s agenda.

A special memento was awarded to the Outgoing Colonel of the Regiment at the farewell ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess in the same evening.
