New SFHQ-East Commander Assumes Office

MAJOR GENERAL J.C. Rambukpotha took over duties as the new Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Monday (7) after a brief ceremony that comprised both religious and military traditions.

The new Security Forces Commander, East was accorded a guard turnout plus a Guard of Honour by soldiers at SFHQ-E on his entrance to the premises.

His predecessor, Major General S.M de A. Rajapaksha was to take over as the new Director General of General Staff (DGGS) at Army Headquarters. 

Major General Rambukpotha inaugurated his office after religious observances, administered by Buddhist monks. Observances invoked blessings on the new appointment and the new Commander afterwards lit the traditional oil lamp. He also initialed a document to signify the acceptance of the new office. 

Later he planted a mango sibling in the SFHQ premises as a token of memory and participated in a tea party, attended by both officers and other ranks.

Major General J.C. Rambukpotha served as General Officer Commanding 56 Division, Chief Instructor at Defence Services Staff College at Batalanda and Commander, Artillery Brigade.  Major General Rambukpotha just returned to the country to assume this office in the east after completion of the one-year long National Defence Course in India.
