New Security Force Headquarters- Central Raised in Formal Military Ceremony

The seventh Security Force Headquarters of the Army was raised on Thursday (14) as the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) at Diyatalawa Military Cantonment on the directions of the Commander of the Army.
Major General H.C.P Goonathilaka has been appointed as the first Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) which covers Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Moneragala and Hambantota districts.

A formal military ceremony with a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour saluted the new Commander on arrival at the new SFHQ-C premises. The day’s itinerary commenced with hoisting of the SFHQ-C flag. A few minutes later, the first SFHQ-C Commander unveiled a plaque and inaugurated his office after lighting the traditional oil lamp and signing a formal document at the auspicious minute.    

Several senior officers, including General Officers Commanding 11 and 12 Divisions, Brigade Commander, 112 Brigade Headquarters, all of them under the new SFHQ-C, took part in the inaugural ceremony.

Towards the end of the day’s ceremony, Major General Goonathilaka addressed all ranks, present at the occasion before the new staff at SFHQ-C posed for a group photo with the new SFHQ-C Commander.
