New Navy Chief Pays Courtesy Call on Army Commander

Newly appointed Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, just five days after his assumption of office, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Tuesday (2) morning at Army Headquarters.

The new Navy Chief was greeted to a Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) after he was received at the entrance. After inspecting the parade, in the company of parade commander, the Commander of the Navy received the salute, in keeping with Army formalities.

Chief of Staff, Army Headquarters, together with Principal Staff Officers in the organization received the visiting naval chief at the main entrance to the Commander’s secretariat afterwards and ushered him to the Commander’s office.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, extending his and the organization’s best wishes on Vice Admiral Colombage’s new appointment, expressed the hope that existing relations between both organizations would continue to prosper further during his tenure of office in the future.

The brief formal meeting between both military chiefs culminated with an exchange of mementos, giving symbolic memory to the occasion. The visiting Navy Chief added an indelible memory by signing in the VIP book at the Commander’s secretariat before his departure.
