Major General Mano Perera assumed duties as the new Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) on 16 October in a simple ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters, MIR, Kekirawa,
On arrival, the new Colonel of the Regiment was received with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honor presented by MIR troops.
Amidst religious observances, Major General Perera placed his signature in a document, symbolizing the assumption of duties.
A troop address and a tea party culminated the ceremony. Center Commandant, Brigade Commander and several Senior Officers of the MIR attended the events.
Afterwards, Major General Mano Perera graced the 15th Regimental Council Meeting which was held at the MIR Conference Hall.
