Sri Lanka Army

Defender of the Nation

New Mahanayake of Asgiriya Chapter &;amp; Anunayake Theros Invoke Blessings on the Army

Sri Lanka Army is the main organization that provides security to the country and defends the Nation, braving the threats posed to their own lives and its services cannot be undermined under any circumstances. Therefore all should work together for the greater benefit of the Nation as true patriots of the country, so said Most Ven. Rajakeeya Panditha Galagama Dhammasiddhi Sri Dhammananda Aththadassi Thero, the newly appointed Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter when the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, paid obeisance and called on the former’s monastery at Asgiriya, Kandy Friday (24) morning.

Lieutenant General De Silva offered Atapirikara and other Pirikara to the new Mahanayake Thero and wished him all the best in his new appointment before the new Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter invoked blessings on the Commander of the Army and the organization.

In his brief Anushasana (piece of advice), the Mahanayake Thero commended the roles that have been played so far by the Army as brave defenders of the Nation, risking own lives for others in the country and what they have gained for the country.

The prelate also invoked blessings on all members of the Army and recalled the memories of fallen War Heroes on behalf of members of the Maha Sangha during the audience.

A few minutes later, the Commander called on the Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Nayake Thero, Mahanayke of Malwatte Chapter at his monastery Kandy and offered Atapirikara and other Pirikara to him in accordance with ancient traditions. A brief exchange of views followed afterwards before the prelate invoked blessings on the Commander and the Army.

During his stay in Kandy, the Commander however did not fail to make offerings to the most sacred Temple of Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) before he paid obeisance to two-newly appointed Anunayake Theros (Deputy Prelates) of the Asgiriya Chapter, Ven. Warakagoda Gnanaratana Nayake Thero and Ven. Wendaruwe Sri Upali Nayake Thero after calling at their respective monasteries.
