New Kilinochchi Commander Meets His Troops in Divisions & Brigades

Major General Amal Karunasekara, after assuming duties as the Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) made his first formal field visit to the 65 Division and a few Brigades of the SFHQ-KLN on Thursday (29).

General Officer Commanding (GOC), 65 Division welcomed Major General Karunasekara on arrival and a Guard Turnout, presented by 65 Division troops, saluted the new Kilinochchi Commander in keeping with military formalities.

Afterwards, a customary troop address, briefing of the GOC, 65 Division and a tree planting ceremony took place to coincide with the event. Signing of the visitors’ book culminated the day’s arrangements.

Afterwards, Major General Karunasekara visited the 651,652 and 653 Brigades as a part of his field visit on the same day. Commanders in respective brigades welcomed the visiting SF Commander on arrival and explained their roles and tasks.

During the visit, the visiting Kilinochchi Commander received a briefing on the Civil Military Coordination activities and other projects that have been undertaken by respective brigades.
