Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana assumed duties as the 10th Commander of the Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) on Monday (16) during a ceremony held at the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
A series of military formalities got underway at the SFHQ-KLN in connection with the welcome ceremony of the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by the troops of the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment after his arrival there greeted him.
Afterwards, the invocation of blessings of the Maha Sangha, took place at the office of the Commander amid chanting of Seth Pirith.
He afterwards planted a mango sapling in the premises to signify the inauguration of his office before he addressed the troops.
Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana later on placed his signature in an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious minute.
Commander, Forward Maintenance Area-Kilinochchi and General Officers Commanding in all Divisions were present at the occasion along with a gathering of senior officers and other ranks.
