New GOC in 65 Division Assumes Office

Major General Kuma Peiris on Tuesday (13) assumed duties as the 9th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 65 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) during a simple ceremony.

In accordance with military traditions, Major General Kuma Peiris reviewed the Guard Turnout on arrival to be welcomed by Senior Officers of the 65 Division. Afterwards, a Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the 1 Gajaba Regiment (GR) saluted the new GOC in the parade ground.

A brief religious ceremony invoked blessings on the new office of Major General Kuma Peiris who symbolically placed his signature afterwards for a formal document to signify the acceptance of the office. Planting of a sapling and an All Rank tea table culminated the inaugural ceremony.

Brigade Commanders of the 651,652 and 653 Brigades, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were also present at the occasion.
