Major General Nishshanka Ranawana, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division assumed duties on Wednesday (05) during a simple ceremony at its office in the 11 Division Headquarters, Pallekelle, Kandy.
The newly-appointed GOC on arrival at the premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour in keeping with military traditions.
To mark his assumption of office, the New GOC planted a sapling and added memories to the occasion.
As is the customary practice, the GOC addressed all Ranks before he joined for refreshments with everyone present.
