New Four-Star General Welcomed in Guard of Honour

The new four-star General of the Army, General Crisanthe De Silva was greeted to military honours upon his elevation to the rank of General Wednesday (28) morning at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) grounds in accordance with military formalities.

General Crisanthe De Silva received the promotion while still serving as the Commander of the Army after he assumed office in February 2015.

On his arrival at the premises, he was welcomed by the Commanding Officer of the Army Headquarters’ battalion before the new General reviewed the Guard Turnout at first.

In accordance with military procedures, Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Chief of Staff, together with Major General Shavendra Silva, Adjutant General afterwards welcomed the day’s Chief Guest and invited him to review the parade after ushering him to the special dais.

A few minutes later, General Crisanthe De Silva took the salute in the parade after it was reported to him by the Parade Commander, Captain H.M.S.C.B Herath of the Sri Lanka Engineers.

The Guard of Honour parade was comprised of 50 members of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
