Major General K.M.U. Wijerathne assumed duties as Commander, Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) on 15 January in a simple ceremony.
On arrival, the newly appointed SF Commander was greeted to a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by 7 Field Engineers (SLE) troops.
Amidst religious observances, Major General Wijerathne signed an official document symbolizing the assumption of office.
Planting of a tree sapling and a troops’ address culminated the day’s proceedings.
General Officers Commanding of 22, 23 and 24 Divisions, officers and other ranks attended the events.
