New DGGS at Army Headquarters Assumes Office

The newly-appointed Director General General Staff (DGGS) at Army Headquarters, Major General S.W.L Daulagala assumed duties this morning (12) during a brief religious ceremony.

Amid chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha, the new DGGS signed an official document, signifying the acceptance of the new appointment soon after the symbolic oil lamp was lit by him and senior officers present at the occasion.

Major General Daulagala before this appointment was Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner for Malaysia during 2011 - 2013. He has also served as Director General Infantry at Army Headquarters and Commander, Security Force Headquarters - West (formerly, the South)  before he was posted to Malaysia. As Colonel of the Regiment, Gajaba Regiment (GR), he was instrumental in initiating a number of new projects for the welfare of GR soldiers.  

Major General Daulagala who has performed duties as Commander, Overall Operations Command - Colombo for some time, has served a number of other senior key appointments across the country after his enlistment to the Army in 1980.
