New Custom Guards Receive Training Assistance from the Army

In response to a request of the Director General of Customs to the Commander of the Army, seeking training assistance for his newly-recruited 97 custom guards, the Security Force Headquarters- Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) took necessary steps to conduct a basic security guiding course for 5 weeks at the Ampakamam Training School under the direct supervision of the 57 Division.

In addition to the practical training sessions, lecturers from the Army, Police and other resource places delivered their inputs to the training programme at the invitation of the SFHQ-KLN during June 18-July 26.

The passing-out ceremony of those new custom guards, including 10 lady guards   took place on Tuesday (26) during a ceremony, held at Ampakamam Training School, Kilinochchi. It was presided by Mr W.A Chulananda Perera, Director General of Customs and Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, SFHQ-KLN as Chief Guests and Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigadier R.M.P.J Rathnayake, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-KLN, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, parents of the trainees and several custom officials took part in the ceremony.

Custom officials and the new trainees express their gratitude to the Army for the programme before they took leave.
