New CES Colonel Commandant Takes up Duties

Brigadier R.M Peramune, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) recently assumed office at the CES Regimental Headquarters during a simple ceremony.

He is the 9th Colonel Commandant of the CES. The office of the Colonel Commandant fell vacant upon the retirement of Major General E.M.M Ambanpola, former Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel Commandant, CES.

Brigadier R.M Peramune on arrival at the venue was welcomed at a Guard Turnout by CES Centre Commandant before he was conducted to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour at the parade ground.

A few minutes later, he assumed the office, amid Seth Pirith chanting of the Maha Sangha and signified the acceptance of his office signing a formal document. He also later on planted a tree sapling in the premises and added memories to the occasion.

Afterwards, the new Colonel Commandant addressed both officers and other rankers during two separate occasions and urged them to work harder for the greater benefit of the CES and the Army.

An all-rank tea party culminated the day’s programme. A large gathering of senior officers and other rankers were present at the occasion.
