Major General Rukmal Dias assumed duties as the 8th Commander of the Security Forces – Central on Sunday (30) during a brief ceremony, held at the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ-C) in Diyatalawa.
In accordance with military traditions, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the new Commander after his arrival. Amidst ‘Pirith’ chanting, the new Security Force Commander inside his office lit the traditional oil lamp and signified the acceptance of his new office by placing his signature in a formal document.
Afterwards he joined All Ranks for refreshments and sat for a group photo. General Officers Commanding 11 and 12 Division, Brigade Commanders of 111, 112 and 121 Brigades, Senior Officers serving the SFHQ-C attended the ceremony.
