'Popi Malak', an album dedicated to the memory of War Heroes, "Samaramu Api Ranaviruwo" with 27 songs, produced by Mass Media and Cultural Circle of the Sri Lanka Catholic Council was presented to Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army by Rev. Fr. Benedict Joseph, Director of Mass Media and Cultural Circle of the Sri Lanka Catholic Council.
Following the conceptual notion of Mr Anton Fernando, Mr Mahesh Jayawardene has provided music to all the songs that have been sung by leading and popular vocalists, like T. M. Jayaratne, Edward Jayakodi, Latha Walpola, Ivo Denis, Pradeepa Dharmadasa, Keerthi Paskuwel, etc all in coordination with the Sri Lanka Catholic Council.
The Commander during his audience with Rev Fr Joseph and both Mr Jayawardene and Mr Fernando at the Commander's office on Friday (1), thanked the producers, Sri Lanka Catholic Council for this thoughtful gesture which is a tribute to all fallen War Heroes in the country.
Having received the maiden CD from Rev Fr Joseph, the Commander listened to a couple of songs in the company of the visitors, Military Secretary Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe and the Military Assistant.
