New ARTRAC Commander Assumes Duties

Major General Dananjith Karunaratne, the newly-appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at Diyatalawa assumed office during a brief ceremony on Tuesday (1).

Brigadier Senarath Bandara, Brigadier Training, ARTRAC and Brigadier Nanda Hathurusinghe, Brigadier Strategic and Doctrine, ARTRAC welcomed the new ARTRAC Commander on arrival at the main entrance and requested him to take the Guard Turnout, presented in his honour.

Symbolically inaugurating his office, Major General Karunaratne afterwards initialled the first official document, pertaining to his duties while the members of the Maha Sangha invoked blessings on the new Commander by chanting Seth Pirith.

After a while, the new Commander planted a sapling near the main entrance to the ARTRAC Headquarter premises.

He then moved on to address a gathering of Officers and Other Ranks serving in the ARTRAC.

Towards the end of day’s proceedings, the new Commander enjoyed refreshments with All Ranks.
