New Air Force Commander Calls on Army Commander

The newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Monday (7) morning at Army Headquarters.

In accordance with military traditions, on his arrival at the Army Headquarters, he inspected the Guard Turn Out and received the Guard of Honour salute, accorded by soldiers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

At the entrance to the Commander’s Secretariat, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army warmly received the visiting new Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal H.D Abeywickrama who was afterwards introduced to the Principal Staff Officers in the Army.

Air Marshal H.D Abeywickrama and Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya later on had a formal meeting at the Army Commander’s Office. They both recalled close cooperation prevailing between both Army and Air Force personnel in different spheres of duties and responsibilities and the excellent contribution made towards the eradication of LTTE terrorism in the past. Both of them also discussed matters of mutual concern to their organizations during this courtesy call. Towards the end of the meet, both of them exchanged mementoes to signify the importance of the day’s meeting.
