Brigadier A. Shantha Hewawitharana of Sri Lanka Artillery assumed office as the 12th General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi on Wednesday (1) amid religious observances.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding received the Guard Turnout honours at the entrance to the Division Headquarters after he was welcomed at the gate.
Amid ‘Pirith Chanting’, the new GOC placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of the new office in the presence of all Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers and Commanding Officers under the 57 Division.
