New 257 Recruits Pass Out Completing Course No: 17 at SLNG Training School

Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) Regimental Training School in Dehiattakandiya added a total of 257 new recruits to the Army on Saturday (26) after completion of their basic training in the Course No: 17 at the Training School.

Those recruits, composed of 14 Sri Lanka Signal Corps, 65 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 14 Gajaba Regiment, 123 Military Intelligence Corps, 38 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps and 03 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, passed out in a formal ceremony that awarded colours in recognition of their talents.

Physical training and band playing displays at the venue, coloured the ceremony, attended by Colonel General Staff, Colonel M.G.A.N.B Mahathuwakkara, 66 Division as the day’s chief guest.

The 6-month long basic training saw the recruits receiving training in drills, field craft, minor tactics, physical training, map reading, and sports, etc under a team of instructors, including Chief Instructor, Major G.R.K Pilippuarachchi, Regimental Sergeant Major, Warrant Officer II G.S.M Senadheera, Drill Instructor, Staff Sergeant H.M Dissanayake and Chief Physical Training Instructor, Staff Sergeant K.M Nissanka.

Senior officers, officers, other ranks, parents, relatives and friends of new recruits witnessed the ceremony.

Best Platoon Sergeant - Sergeant P.G Lakmal

Best Section Commander - Corporal J.A.D Pradeep Senaka

Best Physical Instructor - Lance Bombardier Y.G.M.A.P.L Yalkumbura

Best Firer - Recruit S.W.D Lakshan

Best Physical - Recruit K.M.P.K Bandara

Best All Rounder - Recruit R.A.D.P Aruna Shantha
