A 33 member delegation of the National Defence University (NDU) of People’s Liberation Army (PLA), China, currently on an overseas study tour to Sri Lanka, called at the Army Headquarters Monday (23) morning to pay a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.
Lieutenant General Wang Yongshong, Vice President of the NDU, PLA, China, together with two more representative senior officers and Military Attaché at the Embassy in Sri Lanka, during the formal meeting with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, exchanged views, vis a vis training modules in both countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an exchange of mementos signified the importance of the interaction. Later on, a briefing on Counter Terrorist Warfare, Sri Lanka’s national defence and commanding structure enlightened the visiting NDU undergraduates.
Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Chief of Staff, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Adjutant General, Major General Sumeda Perera, Director General General Staff, Major General N Udawatta, Master General Ordnance, Major General Amal Karunasekara, Military Secretary, Brigadier Ralph Nugera, Director Training, Brigadier Jayantha Gunaratne, Director Operations, Brigadier R.P Rajapathirana, Director Legal and a few more senior officers, were associated with the briefing at the Military Secretariat.
The visiting team of undergraduates, during their four-day stay in Sri Lanka will visit the Kotelawala Defence University, Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) and expects to call on the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander, SFHQ-West and a few officials.
Lieutenant General Wang Yongshong, Vice President, National Defence University, PLA China who has served the office of Chief of Personnel Department of General Staff Department, Vice Director of Political Department of General Staff Department, is a graduate of the Political College, PLA, Beijing University and the National Defence University.
