Department of National Archives, coinciding with the International Archives Day generously offered its professional and technical advice to more than 200 Army officers and other rankers on the proper management of Army archives and legal aspects of the process during a full-day workshop, held at its auditorium at Colombo 7 on Friday (10).
The workshop came about, following a request of the Directorate of Personnel Administration (DPA) in the Army as part of ongoing training modules, proposed by the Commander of the Army.
Sri Lanka Army, comprised of Branches, Directorates, Security Force Headquarters, Divisions, Brigades, Regimental Centers, regular and volunteer units, with its strength performs a commendable administrative role within the organization and steps have been taken to restructure and modernize the whole administrative structure to suit fast changing managerial requirements of the times, to save resources and time.
Friday’s workshop for Army personnel was addressed by Dr Saroja Wettasinghe, Director, National Archives Department (NAD), Ms Dilini Anthony, Assistant Director, NAD, Ms Chamila Priyangani, Assistant Director, NAD and Mr Joseph Patrick Peiris, Assistant Archivist, NAD. Ms Shirani Patabendi, Ms Madushani Priyadarshani and Ms Ayesha Rasikangani coordinated the project in close cooperation with the Army.
Brigadier A.L.S.K Perera, Director, DPA at Army Headquarters attended the opening occasion at the workshop.
