Nation Vested with One More Batch of ‘psc’ Graduates of Tri Services

Sapugaskanda-based Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), the most prestigious academic institution of the highest standards, enriched with core values of professionalism on Monday (12), added one more batch of ‘psc’ (passed staff college) qualified 114 tri service officers to the Sri Lankan armed forces, in addition to 12 foreign officer graduates during a glittering ceremony.

The Graduation Ceremony of the Course No 10 of the DSCSC was dignified by the presence of HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Major General Udaya Perera, Commandant, DSCSC.

The Course No 10 commenced on 03 January 2016 and terminates on Friday (16). A total of 126 officers comprised of Army (64), Navy (26), Air Force (24) and 12 foreign student officers from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Rwanda, Senegal and Vietnam graduated on this occasion upon the successful completion of the one-year long course.

Squadron Leader L.A.H.P Liyanaarachchi of the Sri Lanka Air Force was honoured for the Most Outstanding Performances, awarding the reputed DSCSC’s ‘Golden Pen’ symbol. He was also adjudged the Most Outstanding Sri Lankan Air Force Student Officer of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Major G.I.K Jayawickrama of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) of the Army became the Most Outstanding Sri Lankan Army Student Officer while Lieutenant Commander M.M.G.U.R Gamage of the Sri Lanka Navy was qualified for the award for the Most Outstanding Naval Student Officer of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Major Satish Patil of Indian Army became the Most Outstanding Foreign Student Officer who was also selected for the Commandant’s Honours.

HE the President Maithripala Sirisena presented the most prominent awards to a representative gathering of graduates on the occasion.

State Minister of Defence, Hon Ruwan Wijayawardene, Secretary to State Ministry of Defence, Mr A.P.G Kithsiri, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force were among other distinguished invitees to the occasion.

Former Commanders, past Commandants, Senior Military Officers, Defence Attaches, members of the Diplomatic Corps and invitees were present on the occasion.
