Mullaittivu Troops Support Purification of Drinking Wells

Extending further support to resettled civilians in the newly-released acreage of 133.4 in Keppapilavu, Mullaittivu, the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) offered its assistance for purification of their drinking water wells on Thursday (25) since they remained unused for years.

After a section of the civilians brought the matter to the notice of Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT), a group of Army personnel selected 12 drinking wells, out of all 24 in the released land patch for cleaning under the first phase of the project.

Army troops expect to complete the entire purification project within a few days with the support of those owners who are now residing there. Major General Rajaguru after taking a personal interest in the project has provided all equipment free of charge for the benefit of promoting good relations and reconciliation.

On 28 December 2017, Sri Lanka Army in conformity with the government policy released a land extent of 133.4 acres, hitherto used by the Army for security purposes to their rightful owners in Mullaittivu area after completely renovating or rebuilding their 28 houses that stood inside that land patch at Army cost.
