Mullaittivu Troops Learn about ‘Cyber Crimes & Security’

An awareness programme to educate troops serving the Security Force Headquarters - MLT (SFHQ-MLT) on ‘Cyber Crimes and Security’ was conducted on Wednesday (15), following an initiative, suggested by the Commander, Security Forces - MLT on the directions of the Commander of the Army.

Topics such as ‘Rational use of Internet’, ‘Social Media’, ‘Malicious reports and Anti-social Acts’, ‘Use of smart phones and mobile phones’ etc. were taken up for discussion during the workshop, attended by 44 Officers and 100 Other Ranks.

Colonel S.P.P Pakshaweera, Commanding Officer, 12 Sri Lanka Signal Corps in his lecture to the occasion focused on preventive actions, needed to be taken to protect soldiers from cyber crimes.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army after he assumed office as the Army Chief in July this year specifically underlined the importance of learning about Cyber Security against the backdrop of world-wide challenges.
