Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) in close coordination with the Colombo Rotary Club, in a magnificent gesture of thoughtfulness and care for others, came forward to get down artificial legs, each worth Rs 15,000/= for distribution among disabled civilians in Mullaittivu areas.
Colombo Asarana Sarana Society-initiated project was sponsored by Colombo Capital City Rotary Club before the project got underway during July 2-7 after selecting the most-needed group of 25 disabled civilians from Nanthikadal (59 Division) and Oddusuddan (64 Division) areas in close consultation with Grama Seva officials in respective sectors.
The distribution of those artificial limbs by a representative group of the donors continued for 7 days by visiting the residential areas of the recipients and later on by inviting them to the 64 Division Headquarters in Oddusuddan. Many of those disabled civilians thanked the Army for their valuable gift.
Several senior officers were associated with the donation programme.
