Mullaitivu Security Force Members Contribute to Coastal Clean-up Projects

A programme, organized to coincide with the National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation Week and coastal clean-up programme of the government was assisted by members of the Security Forces in Mullaitivu under the guidelines given by Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru on Friday (21).

Large groups of Tri Servicemen, Policemen, school students, state employees, volunteers in civil organizations joined hands together to rid garbage along Mullaitivu, Pudumathalan and Wattuwakal coastal areas.

Troops cleaned a patch of 3 km of Alampil and 2 km of Wattuwakal beach fronts on the instruction of the General Officer Commanding 59 Division and under the close supervision of the Commander 681 Brigade. Similarly, troops cleaned 3km patch of the beach front in Pudumathalan area.

Ms. R. Ketheeshwaran, District Secretary for Mullaittivu, Mr. Danapala Sundaran, Additional District Secretary, Mullaiitivu, Mr. Pradeeyan, Divisional Secretary Pudukudirippu, Mr. I Prathapan Divisional Secretary for Maritimepattu and several state officials also participated in the event.
