More Warlike Items Abandoned by LTTE Recovered

WANNI: WEDNESDAY’S search and clear operations in many areas of WANNI helped Army troops find some more weapons and other warlike items kept hidden or abandoned by the LTTE.

Troops in the general areas of VISUAMADU, PULIYANPOKKANAI, IRANAMADU and KULAMURIPPU on Wednesday (8) recovered one T-56 magazine, one pouch, one T-56 weapon, one Light Machine Gun (LMG) tripod, one shotgun, one hand grenade, two 12.7 mm ammunition drums, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one GPMG tripod, one 130 mm artillery projectile, thirty-three anti personnel mines, five Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), fifty-five 60 mm mortar bombs, thirty-eight 152 mm artillery projectiles, three 81 mm mortar bombs, one thousand mortar chargers, three Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) and one IED made using an 81 mm mortar bomb.  

Meanwhile, troops in the PUTHUKUDIYIRUPPU east and west recovered seven T-56 weapons, eleven Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two hundred and seventy-two electric fuses, one hundred and twelve rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, three claymore mines, three hundred and five anti personnel mines, two 60 mm para bombs, three 40 mm mortar cartridges, ten hand grenades, three detonators, four 12 ft Bangalore torpedoes, one 6 ft Bangalore torpedo, two RPGs, thirty-three 60 mm mortar bombs, one 130 mm artillery  projectile, four RPG launchers, one RPG charger, forty rounds of T-56 ammunition, one 81 mm mortar bomb, one shotgun, 20 m of  wire, one belt order, 3 kgs of explosives, nine radio sets, six I-com sets, over three thousand LTTE photographs, twelve VHS video cassettes, two memory cards, sixty-four external hard disks, one cable, one hundred and eight CDs, two micro chips, two Outboard Motors (OBM) and ten CR books during their search operations in those areas, the same day (8).
