More Relief Provided by SFHQ-C Troops to Drought-Affected People


One more round of distribution of drinking water and relief dry ration packets among people affected due to the prolonged drought in Wellawaya, Siripuragama, Minipe, Ridimaliyadda, Meegahakiwula, Medagama, Bibila, Moneragala, Madulla, Badalkumbura, Siyabalanduwa, Thanamalwila and several other areas, took place in the past ten days (September 08-18), following initiatives taken by the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) with the support of private donors and the Army itself.  

Dry rations, water bottles, garments, sweet meats and vegetables, to the value of Rs 4 lakhs, offered by the Chairman, S.T.A.D Security and Investigations Company Ltd were given away to the people of 300 families in Wellawaya, Siripuragama Gramaseva Division on Friday (12).

Meanwhile, SFHQ-C troops using Army bowsers distributed more than 1.5 lakhs of water liters among 5992 affected families in 50 Gramaseva Divisions in Minipe during September 7-13.     

Similarly, Army bowsers supplied drinking water to 1159 families in 14 Gramasewa Divisions in Ridimaliyadda and Meegahakiwula Divisional Secretariat areas during the same above period.  

With the same noble objective drinking water to more than 121,530 families in above mentioned areas under 9 Divisional Secretariats of the 121 Brigade area.

Accordingly, on the directions of Major General Mano Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C, troops have used more than 200 water bowsers, including those owned by District Secretariats for distribution of drinking water.
