611 Brigade troops once again apprehended a stock of illicitly-felled satinwood logs from the jungles in the Madu Forest Reserve on Wednesday (1) in Madu.
Commando troops of the 611 Brigade during their routine patrol duties in the area observed those 17 satinwood logs and a tractor with its trailer lying there without any claimants.
Troops immediately alerted the forest officer in the area and handed over the stock of those logs to proceed with onward legal formalities.
Earlier also, troops in Madu area serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) on more than four occasions in the past three months took several such stocks into custody with the help of respective Forest Department Officials.
