More Humanitarian Services Offered by 22 Division


Troops serving the 222 Brigade in Jayathigama, Kantale under the 22 Division recently organized several community projects at the request of the Buddhist Association of Old Anandians who were marking the 125th anniversary of the association.

A large medical camp at Suriyapura Mahaweli Vidyalaya as the first project of the anniversary events, provided medical assistance to hundreds of civilians in Suriyapura, Samanalapalama, Samagipura and other areas in Kantale. In addition, the eye camp that examined eyes of the civilians, provided 150 spectacles to them free of charge on the same occasion.  

Meanwhile, kids at Sooriyapura pre-school and students in six Sunday Daham Schools afterwards received books and educational accessories as gifts during separate ceremonies at Sooriyapura pre-school and Neelapola Raja Maha Viharaya on the same day. Those events, organized by the 222 Brigade were supported by 1 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) troops serving the area.

Brigadier D.D.U.K Hettiarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division gave his blessings to all those humanitarian projects. Several representatives of donor organizations were present during those projects.
