More Humanitarian Projects Launched in the East


Troops of all Divisions and Brigades under the Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E) continue their humanitarian community projects in the past week on the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E.

On Saturday (9) more than 100 soldiers, including officers, serving the 231 Brigade at Kallady under the 23 Division donated blood for use of patients under treatment in Batticaloa and other peripheral hospitals at the request of  Hospital authorities.

Troops of 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) under the 232 Brigade of 23 Division, meanwhile, distributed drinking water among 14 families who remain affected by prevailing drought at Perumaweli village, Iralakkulam on Thursday (7).

In the meantime, Brigadier H.R.K.P Peiris, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division placed sacred relics in the newly-constructed Dagoba (pagoda) at Sri Bimbarama temple, Namaltalawa on Sunday (10).
