More than 400 troops from 59, 64 and 68 Divisions and the Forward Maintenance Area – Mullaittivu (FMA-MLT) under the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on account of the 70th Independence donated blood to the Mullaittivu Base hospital on the directions of Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SF- MLT.
The community project, initiated by the SFHQ-MLT on Sunday (4) saw a medical team of Mullaittivu-base Hospital collecting blood of all Army donors who volunteered to assist the blood need of Mullaittivu patients.
Excess stocks are also to be provided to other peripheral hospitals as and when a request is made to the Blood Bank at Mullaittivu.
Major General Nishantha Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division representing Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SF- MLT launched the project
Senior Officers and a large number of Officers, Other Ranks and members of the Civil Staff volunteered to donate blood during the programme.
Hospital Director and the staff thanked Mullaittivu troops for their generosity.
