More than 100 Army Personnel Help Bring Bloemendhal Garbage Fire Under Control

Army Troops of the 14 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West), together with fire fighters of the Colombo Municipal Council and the members of the public in the area as of 8 p.m. on Tuesday (4) are busy to bring a mammoth fire that broke out in the Bloemendhal garbage dump in Colombo 13.

A total of 148 Army personnel including 9 Officers belonging to 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (9 SLLI), 6 Gemunu Watch (6 GW) and 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (11 VIR) rushed to the scene soon after the fire began spreading on the instructions of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) and under the supervision of Major General Ralph Nugera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 14 Division and jumped into action with fellow fire fighters.

However, with the support of other fire fighters, Army troops succeeded in containing further spread of the fire as the dusk fell by this evening. At the time this report was filed, troops are still at the location attending to the follow-up control measures.Nike Sneakers | Nike Running
