Mop-up Operations Collect More LTTE Explosives

WANNI: MOP-UP operations in VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL, PANALKANDAMADU and KADJUWATHTHA areas continued on Thursday (28) as usual since those areas are still infested with LTTE explosive devices, landmines, booby traps, etc. 

Two claymore mines of 7.5 kg each and seventy six Anti Personnel Mines were among major recoveries from VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL area, the same day.

The rest included eleven C-90 weapons, eighteen Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) heat bombs, thirteen OG 9 mm bombs, fifty two 81 mm mortar bombs, thirteen 81 mm mortar bombs, thirty five 81 mm mortar fuses, ‍fifteen anti personnel mine chargers, one hundred and twenty-three of 60 mm fuses, one SAM missile (Surface to Air Missile), forty RPG cartridges, seventy seven Arul type bombs, one thermo baric, two disposable RPGs, two claymore mines of 12.5 kg, two claymore mines of 7.5 kg, one claymore mine of 1 kg, one thousand and five hundred rounds of T-56 ammunition, one T-81 weapon, four I-com radio sets, one Global Positioning System, two 9 mm pistols with three magazines, two satellite phones and one night vision device.
