Mock Raids on Safe Houses & Air Mobile Attacks Dominate Ongoing Exercise 'Cormorant Strike'

Small pockets of Special Forces in the ‘Exercise - Cormorant Strike’, currently underway in Welikanda, Sinhapura area, attended by a record 3458 tri-service personnel, including 58 foreign participants, this morning (13) in a mock demonstration, raided a strong enemy fortification and a safe-house in the general area of Sinhapura, Welikanda.   

Troops engaged in the mock raid captured enemy leaders alive and took them away to the operational headquarters with the support of Air Force personnel.

A similar Exercise, carried out by Commandos of the air mobile raid team struck at Wattuvan in Batticaloa, together with members of the Sri Lanka Air Force who were able to attack and capture the enemy hide-outs.

The Exercise is planned and executed by the Exercise Headquarters Cormorant Strike, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at Diyatalawa and Directorate of Training with the blessings of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva. Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe acts as the Exercise Training Director.
