MITC Equipped with Two New Model Rooms at Dambulla

Adding more facilities to the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC) in Manik Farm, ceremonially opened two new Model Rooms for training and development of the MIR techniques, during a recent simple ceremony.

Major General Ruwan Kulatunga, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR participated as the Chief Guest for the occasion.

On arrival of the Colonel of the Regiment to the MITC premises was warmly welcome by the Brigade Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier H.M.S Herath in the company of Centre Commandant, MIR Colonel H.M.U Herath and Commandant, MITC, Lieutenant Colonel G.P.P Kulatilaka.

The ceremony saw the Chief Guest at the invitation of Commandant, MITC Lieutenant Colonel G.P.P Kulatilaka cut the symbolic ribbon and warm the New Model Rooms after unveiling a plaque.

Afterwards, the visiting Colonel of the Regiment was invited to have a look at the Model Rooms where equipped of Cut Models and Training Aids for Automotive, Gunnery and Communication system of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), used by the Mechanized Infantry Regiment are housed.

The automotive model room equipped of ‘A’ and ‘B’ vehicle engines, other automotive functioning systems of the APCs and ‘B’ vehicles. Gunnery and Communication model room consist of all weaponry systems with its functions andcut models and Communication systems which highly useful for training.

During the event troops and sponsors of the project were appreciated and commended by distributing appreciative plaques as tokens of recognition of their services.
