MIR Celebrates 11th Anniversary Day

Dambulla-based Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) celebrated its 11th anniversary day recently at the Regimental Centre giving prominence to religious observances.

The commemoration commenced with multi religious ceremonies in order to invoke blessings on the Regiment. Religious activities got underway at Kataragama Kiri Vehera, Kataragama Devalaya, Dalada Maligawa and Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya.

Afterwards, other religious rituals were performed at Roman Catholic Church-Wahakotte, followed by Hindu and Islamic religious observances at Galewela Hindu Kovil and Puwakpitiya Mosque respectively.

The day’s Chief Guest, Major General Ruwan Kulatunga, Colonel of the Regiment was honoured with a Guard Turnout and a colourful Military Parade presented by Mechanized Infantry troops including Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).

The same afternoon an ‘All Ranks Lunch’ held with the participation of Colonel of the Regiment, Council Members and other senior officers followed by a Mega Musical Show in the same evening.

The Centre Commandant, MIR, Colonel H.M.U Herath gave his support to make the commemorative events a success.
